So, we are in Thailand. We landed in Bangkok where we explored the urban jungle and the awkward nightlife.
On the day of arrival, while searching for a place to stay we got approached by a mid 50s couple from Essen, Germany who invited us for a couple of beers. Later, drunk we asked a random guy on the street if he knew a good and cheap place to stay. His name was Neau. He accompanied us all the way to several accommodation options, waited until we checked in and took us to a place for dinner. The next evening he fetched us and showed us around. We just asked for directions and ended up with a new friend. A great experience!
Bangkok really is an urban jungle with dozens of skyscrapers, modern shopping malls and little street stalls in between, with tranquil parks and crazy night life, and of course wonderful food selection. Did we mention the massages. We love this place by the way. Just amazing!
I got carried away, after Bangkok we went to Chiang Mai in the north. Within the city you’ll find temples and some touristy markets where you can buy souvenirs and try more local food. When in the north try Khao Soi!
An attraction worth visiting outside of town is Sticky Waterfalls, about 1,5 hour drive on the scooter. The stones are literally sticky so it is easy to climb the steep waterfalls up and down. A very unusual and fun experience. And not too touristy (at least when we were there). And this time no bruises, bites or wounds.
Next stop Mae Hong Son.
Waiting for Mae Hong Son stories
