We arrived in Nepal at the beginning of May 2018. After making only a few preparations in Kathmandu (such as buying appropriately warm clothes) we headed to the Annapurna region to fulfill a longtime bucket list adventure: The Annapurna Circuit Trek.
Being considered as one of the best and cheapest (!) treks in the world, we kept this trek on our wishlist ever since experiencing Nepal for the first time. Spoiler upfront: We were not disappointed.
In this blog post we summarise our experiences on the Annapurna Circuit trek along with likes and dislikes. Of course there are also our lessons learned towards the end in case you want to tackle this trek yourself in the near future.
Puh! We made it.
It took us 17 days to circuit the Annapurna region. With elevations starting just below 1000 meters to a literally breathtaking 5400 meters (Thorang-La Pass) our trek took us through all kinds of vegetation: jungles, stone deserts, river beds, snow paths, and and and.
In this post we gathered a small selection of memorable photos:
We spent three days in Delhi. We used the time to reunite with some old friends, do some souvenir shopping in the capital and of course to get organized after one month with (almost) no internet.
Thank you very much V. Family for having us. We had a great time in Delhi. Hope to see you again soon!
Next stop Nepal…
The Andaman Islands were far, far away. It was not always easy to get around due to limited tourist infrastructure and because island hopping always meant stopping over in the less than spectacular Port Blair. BUT, the long waits and transfers were worth it!
Instead of visiting the touristy but beautiful Havelock, we went to the wild north, the distant Little Andaman (our personal highlight) and the very chill Neil island.
Every island had charm.
Hi All,
We left the Andaman Islands a couple of days ago for Delhi. Below is a selection of some nice memories (photos) from Port Blair, North Andaman, Little Andaman and Neil Island.
Enjoy…
We arrived on Little Andaman and it was love at first sight. This not so little island was far, far away from everything else and had everything a backpacker’s heart could dream of: Awesome beaches, a wild jungle with indigenous tribes, plenty of wildlife, no mass tourism, still a number of fun activities to do and a lot more to discover. Instead of moving on after a couple of days as initially planned, we spent nearly two weeks here in total.
One morning we thought “let’s share one typical day.” So we started filming. Surprisingly this one day turned out quiet special, even for Little Andaman. Enjoy!
Sometimes the easiest things can take you a while in a different country. This applies especially for India. And especially for the Andaman islands. Again we learned the hard way.
The event that led to this story happened quite a while ago when the Sri Lankan airlines forced us to book an onwards flight from India before boarding our plane. It was a very stressful experience at the Colombo airport: Without much time or WiFi we had to book an exit flight from India and make an on the spot guess as to when our time in India should end. We completed our booking in the last minutes and could board the plane. When we arrived in India, the immigration authorities did not even ask for the exit flights from India (that is another story). What matters is that we had to be back in Delhi on a certain date to catch the onwards flight to Kathmandu. In order to keep the rest of the journey flexibel, we booked our domestic Indian flights step by step.
11 days before our flight to Kathmandu we were still on Little Andaman and had no flight to Delhi. The task was simple, get a one way ticket to New Delhi from the Andaman islands and then catch our Kathmandu flight. Organizing this flight turned into a full day activity (again). In this post we share what led to the frustration.
